Banish Disposable Dishware

Cleaning up after a big meal is a pain for any host but the alternatives, like plastic or paper plates, shouldn’t be your first line of defense. They contribute immensely to waste and not to mention can be a tad bit expensive.

Use regular plates, silverware and glassware. Elect a few helpers pre-dinner to help you pack, store and clean food and dishes from the table once the fellowship has ended. Opt for cloth napkins that can be used as great decorative piece as an alternative to wasteful paper napkins.

If using traditional dinnerware is too much of a hassle, try biodegradable options made from corn or bamboo that are available at Costco, Party City or online at BranchHome, EcoPalmWare and VerTerra.
