Life is hard. It’s even harder the moment your alarm goes off in the morning and you’re faced with a critical decision: to hit the snooze button for an extra 30 minutes of sleep or pull together all of the strength you can muster to pop in that aerobics tape and get moving.

If a healthy body and increased energy isn’t enough to drag you out from under the covers and into the gym, perhaps the promise of fat burning and weight loss will.

Researchers at Duke University Medical Center conducted a study over the course of eight months with 234 middle-aged men and women who were overweight or obese, and separated them into three groups: one that did cardio only, one that did resistance training only, and one that did a combination of both exercises.

According to the study, subjects in the cardio and combination groups reduced more body and fat mass than those in the resistance-training group.

Moral of the study? If you want to burn fat and lose weight focus on cardio workouts for better results. But first you gotta stop hitting that snooze button!

  1. I’ve never been a huge fan of these “lose weight quickly” type articles. The problem with most of the methods is that, most people end up putting the weight straight back on.

However, remember there are no shortcuts or magical secrets to a great body – it’s simply a result of hard-work and not giving up!
