After a lively discussion earlier this week on hip-hop as a driving force of health consciousness, it seems like the genre’s fairy godmother has sent us another (funny) blessing. When I first watched the “Whole Foods Parking Lot” music video, I almost fell off the bed laughing. It’s an insatiable formula for a YouTube phenomenon: young white male, over-the-top hip-hop mockery, basic rhymes, urban apparel, and straight up humor…but in a Whole Foods Supermarket.
Why do I appreciate this video?
Admittedly, I’m a Whole Foods junkie (when I can afford it), but I also appreciate the healthy food references in the song, close up shots in the video, and overall, the promotion of one of the healthiest supermarkets in America. While Whole Foods shopping is not in everyone’s budget, at the very least, the video sends a subliminal message about it being cool to eat healthy.
omg…so funny! I hate that I love this!…and who knew I’d have something in common in with a white rapper…
