It’s that time of year again … Thanksgiving!! If you’re anything like me you can’t wait to indulge in some of your favorite holiday meals, and if you’re anything like me you’ve waited until the last minute to do your food shopping. #Fail! But last minute food shopping doesn’t mean all hope is lost for a healthy meal, especially when it comes to the main event.
The turkey!
It’s not totally impossible to pick a healthy turkey for your family to nosh on this holiday season and with these tips you’ll be able to get your gobble on with a little less guilt!
Read The Basting Label
In your last minute dash to grab a bird, don’t forget that labels still matter. A label that says “prebasted” or “basted” means the bird has been injected with water or stock which may or may not contain fats, and other flavor enhancers that may not be too good for your waistline.
Treat your turkey like any other food you buy and look for the fine print to tell you what percent of the weight of the bird is injected liquid (you’re paying for it), and what the ingredients are.
