Could the next wave of children be branded the couch potato generation?
According to researchers at Newscastle University, 508 schoolchildren between the ages of eight and ten were monitored for their activity during waking hours.
The research showed that boys were physically active for around 24 minutes, as opposed to girls who were only active for 17 minutes. Neither getting the required hours per day of physical activity that children should be getting.
Many are beginning to fear that the new generation will be so consumed with computers and technology that they will choose to sit in front of a television rather than engage in sports or activities.
