Do you remember the first time you got your period? Though that question might seem like an awkward conversation starter, it’s one of the first things I thought of after hearing that a company has set out to celebrate that very day.

According to Babble.com, the company Menarche Parties R’Us, wants you throw a celebration for every woman the first time she gets her menstrual cycle. Their website reads, Create a life time of memories for your daughter by hosting a menarche party for her. A menarche party can make this time easier and more meaningful for both the young lady beginning menstruation and her parents.

Their goal is to welcome girls into womanhood, while alleviating any pressure that comes along with talking about it. Not only that, but the Menarche party comes equipped with a “party pack,” that includes games such as the Menstrual Trivia Game, Pin the Ovaries Game, and a Puberty Marshmallow Game.

Oh, the joys of womanhood.

What do you think Frugivore? A noble idea? Or a bit weird?

  1. I think it’s a beautiful idea, but then again, I am pro-love for women. I believe it’s not unlike having a quinceanera. I will definitely adopt this practice for my daughters when I have them.

  2. Cute, when I first got my period I read in some cultures that the girl gets a gift. Told my ‘rents and got given a mini-hifi system (was pushing it with that Brandy album though)! Oh, those were the days…

  3. Hell to the naw!!!!!!!! Why would I subject my vagina to this. I’m glad me and my mother had a grand ole time in her bathroom, educating me on my body and cleanliness when I had my 1st period

  4. For me, my mother told me about it, and right after the conversation, I started. Thank goodness I didn’t panick. lol…

  5. Read the book ‘The Red Tent’. It is set in biblical times. There is a section that talks about how s girl is honored when she gets her 1st period. She is bathed in oils, given special foods and pampered for the duration of her cycle. It’s beautiful.
