Science is a truly amazing thing…get the Kleenex ready for this one…A Queens woman has given birth to her second child with her husband using in vitro fertilization one year after his death.
Katisha Gordon and her late husband Maurice had a toddler conceived using IVF and were planning to have a second child when he was tragically murdered in front of his parents’ home in June of 2010. Mrs. Gordon decided to go forward and continued with the family’s plans for another baby. This July, she gave birth to little Paige, who is the spitting image of her father.
The 34-year-old mother tells the New York Post “I wanted another child with Maurice. It was something we both discussed, so there was no hesitation at all.” Doctors warned her that she should wait until she had more grieving time before getting pregnant again, but Katisha refused. A nurse and graduate student, she receives help from her and Maurice’s family and his former colleagues in taking care of her young family.
With all the distressing news in the world today it is refreshing to hear a wonderful story such as this. Thank you for bringing it to us.
