Sammy Sosa looks like he’s still lightening his skin. A tweet went out from Yahoo!’s Jeff Passan, who jokingly claims Slammin’ Sammy is guest starring on the HBO vampire drama True Blood.

It would be understandable if Sosa was lightening his skin for Hollywood, but it seems like Sosa is another person of color caught up in the “lightening game.” Considering Sosa maintains a conk, and he hails from one of the most anti-African blood islands in the Caribbean, I’d posit this four-year “skin rejuvenation” process is based in some of colorism seen throughout the African diaspora.
