On the list of hard things to do every day washing your face correctly doesn’t even make the cut. I mean who can’t splash a little soap and water on their face properly right?

Yet there may be some subtle things you may be doing that could be the cause of excessive drying, oily skin or even breakouts.

Since November was National Healthy Skin Month and we here at Frugivore are all about healthy, glowing skin, we’re going to give you a few simple tweaks to add to your face washing routine that will leave your skin looking refreshed and better than ever.

Stay Cool

In the rush to get through our hectic days and nights we’re always looking for a way to combine some of our endless tasks. That’s why when it comes to face washing many of us opt to do it in the shower with a splash of hot water.

Wrong!

While it might feel good to warm up with a steamy splash of water, icy cold or lukewarm water might actually be better for your skin. Excessively hot water will strip healthy natural oils from your skin too quickly and leave it feeling dry.

  1. I always use cold water at the end of washing my face. Tightens it up and makes my pores look smaller! I’ve been washing with a natural cleanser from Garden Girl http://www.gardengirlskincare.com and it has been working great for me!
