Tip # 2: There’s more than one type of juicer
The most common juicer found in department stores fit the Centrifugal category. These juicers are round shaped and use a flat cutting blade that spins the fruit and veggies at speeds up to 14,000 rpm. Though most people start out with this type of juicer because it’s easy to use and is inexpensive, it has been proven to unintentionally heat up the juice in the process of juicing, which leads to lower levels of vitamins and nutrients in the juice and decreased shelf and storage life.
This process is called oxidation. While an excellent starting point as an introduction juicer because It’s relatively easy to use and some even process whole fruits and veggies making chopping and cutting unnecessary. Keep in mind though that centrifugal juicers are not the best when juicing greens.
