Millet/Quinoa

Both grains are touted for being high in protein and gluten free. These grains are alkaline unlike the more well-known grains: wheat, bleached rice and pasta, etc. Quinoa originating from South America is technically a seed, which provides complete protein (all nine of the essential amino acids).

Millet is most known for its high amount of iron, fiber and protein. It also contains large amounts of magnesium, potassium and B vitamins. Both quinoa and millet contain simple sugars, which helps to regulate the blood sugar levels.
