The average manicure has gone from wardrobe staple to a style statement all its own. Tricked out nails walk the runways of Fashion Week and enter boldly into the board room. Three chemicals widely used in nail polish, known as the “toxic trio,” have been linked to adverse side effects on developing children. The toxic trio culprits include the chemicals dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde (a known carcinogen). Lucky for us, many of our favorite brands have phased out the use of these not-so-glamorous chemicals.
