I gave myself permission to enjoy!

It was not going to be a successful trip if I didn’t! The purpose of a vacation is to relax, experience, and enjoy life. That is part of a healthy lifestyle too so don’t forget it. How could that happen if I am sitting in the corner, pouting, looking salty about eating my lightly salted low sodium crackers while everyone was indulging in the tastiest “must try” local treat? If I wanted to enjoy some special treat, that was fine. But I had to be committed that the trip could not recklessly be filled with them. For me, it was about knowing I can make.

This trip turned out to be fun. I had a great time with my family and stayed active and healthy the entire time just by taking a little time to plan ahead. It was an excellent reminder that I have to take care of myself wherever I am every day and stick to my commitments. When your healthy schedule is interrupted how do you handle that? Do you “travel healthy” or is your vacation a time to splurge?

  1. Wonderful tips! Thanks so much for this article. I’m on the way to my autumn vacay down in Key West which has lots of healthclubs but not much veggies. Great seafood though!
