Women’s Health Issues

OBAMA – As part of the Affordable Care Act, insurance plans are required to fully cover birth control without deductibles or co-pays. Insurance plans are also no longer to charge women higher premiums than man. Obama also opposes efforts to prevent federal funding for Planned Parenthood which provides preventative health screenings.

ROMNEY – Maintains that Roe v. Wade should be overturned by the Supreme Court so that the abortion issue can be decided by states. Romney has also spoken out against the 2012 health law’s requirement for employers’ health plans to cover contraception without a copayment. Additionally, Romney opposes funding for Planned Parenthood.
