Tami Roman has dropped a few pounds, and she’s crediting over the counter weight loss pills as a big factor in reaching her goal weight of 160 pounds. According to her website, she’s already dropped from a size 12/14 to an 8/10. Allegedly, she enlisted the help of NV weight loss pills and sprinkles, and she’s lost 12 pounds so far.

“A few months ago, I quit smoking and to cope, I transferred my dependency from one vice to the next,” wrote Roman on her website. “I ate everything that wasn’t nailed down. I looked up one day and I actually weighed 185 lbs.  I decided to try a diet product to help suppress my appetite, in which most of you know, I opted for NV pills and NV Sprinkles. Much to my surprise, NV actually worked.”

Oh Tami, kudos for the weight loss, but over the counter diet pills aren’t the healthiest way to go. Even with simple Google search of these pills, you can read the numerous reviews on Amazon, where people list the crazy side effects.  Although these diet pills may offer a quick fix, it’s just that a “fix”.  Although some of the ingredients listed are “all natural”, the pills, as with most non-FDA approved diet pills sold over the counter, contain large amounts of caffeine.

Tami Roman isn’t the first celebrity to hock diet pills. Kim Kardashian has been a spokesperson for QuickTrim for a couple of years now. Even with her current weight loss kick, she has said she’s back on her pills. “Since I started QuickTrim again a few weeks ago, I’m down 6 lbs!!! Yay best feeling. I was getting discouraged but now I’m so motivated!” she wrote on her Twitter account.

Earlier this year, Huffington Post wrote an expose on QuickTrim, citing the pills merely over hyped and not healthy. Among the ingredients includes large amounts of caffeine as well as other herbal ingredients that can increase the effects of the caffeine. “It irritates me that they’re not saying how much caffeine is in these pills,” Dr. Fugh-Berman says, a physician and associate professor in the complementary and alternative medicine master’s degree program at Georgetown University Medical Center. “Too much caffeine can make you jittery and increase your blood pressure and pulse. If you pop a couple of these pills with your Starbucks coffee, that’s not good; you could get caffeine poisoning, which can cause heart arrhythmias.”

Losing weight is great, but does it matter how much you’ve lost if you’re in a hospital because of a bad heart? Neither QuickTrim or NV pills are FDA approved. The only over the counter pill that is FDA approved is Alli and even that comes with warnings and side-effects.  Before deciding to add OTC pills to your regimen, it would be a good idea to check with your doctor.

  1. stop trying to make hollywood and celebrities responsible for your actions.

people have always undertaken, sometimes, extreme measures to lose weight. i’m sure there is a quick weight loss remedy that exists in many many cultures.

  2. Today’s Celebs are a bunch of liars. This chick had lipo, diet pills, gin & juice and a whole lot of hate inside of her too. Celebs should not go around talking about how much weight they lost fresh off the plastic surgeons fat sucking tube.

Bunch of liars I tell u.

  3. Its okay to take diet pills which are chemically safe, like phen375 is all chemical based, but i guess fruit or natural supplements works the best and that is what Hollywood best kept secret is.

  4. This chick had lipo! How can she be a spokesperson for a diet pill when she went under the knife! Smh!

  5. Now I feel stupid for even buying the pills to try them.

  6. Yeah, I agree if she actually went under a knife to lose that weight well she’s wrong for misleading people. But all of the celebrities do it, from weight loss to facial products it’s just a quick way to get into your pockets.
    When will we learn???
