3. Read your labels

Knowledge is power, and reading your labels before you toss your food into your cart will make you wise and healthy. Read the ingredients label on the back of any food package.

Wellness consultant Rebecca Casciano advises that if a food item contains more than five ingredients, chances are preservatives and chemicals went in to keeping the item on the shelf.

Dump it and keep it moving. You can also download a free healthy food app like Fooducate which allows you to scan a product at the store, see what’s in it, know if it’s a good choice and select alternatives.
