While most moms are regularly allowed to enjoy their pregnancies, celebrities are often crucified for wanting to indulge in the most normal pregnancy behaviors, like, say, eating more? Jessica Simpson was one such celeb who came under the limelight after ballooning to over 200 pounds with her daughter Maxwell.

As headlines and media outlets condemned her weight gain, Simpson merely took it in stride, telling Katie Couric, “I definitely don’t pick up the magazines. I definitely don’t Google my name. I try to avoid it completely, but I subconsciously know the talk is going on. Every day it’s a struggle for me.”

Though Simpson has inevitably stayed above the fray, she was still steadfast in her decision to lose weight for personal reasons. Since giving birth, the singer has lost 40 pounds and details her routine,

  • 7 a.m. – Jessica wakes up and feeds Maxwell, then has breakfast: half a flat-bread sandwich with egg whites, peppers and fat-free cheddar
  • 8 a.m. – Simpson walks up to an hour a day, trying to get at least 14,000 steps on her pedometer. Afterward: a snack of berries, bananas, melon or grapefruit.
  • 11 a.m. – Four days a week, Simpson works out for 45 minutes with a trainer doing a combination of cardio and circuit-training exercises such as dumbbell triceps extensions, hamstring curls and crunches with a medicine ball.
  • 1 p.m. – Jessica, 32, eats lunch of spinach salad with 4 ounces of chicken satay and pear.
  • 2 p.m. Simpson walks again outside or on the treadmill, then has a berry smoothie.
  • 6:30 p.m. Dinner of fish (4 ounces of halibut or tilapia) with roasted eggplant, broccoli or asparagus. Low-fat ice cream for dessert.
  • 10 p.m. Bedtime.

Quite a filling routine for a new mom, but she’s obviously extremely dedicated telling as you can hear from her conversation with Couric, “I have to separate myself from the world’s expectations,” she said, “I have to look inside myself. I’m not a supermodel … I just wanna be a better version of myself.”

What do you think of the singer’s weight loss?

  1. She had surgery along with her pregnancy people. Don’t be fooled by the hype.

  2. Pretty Brown eyes

Clearly this is an olddddddddd pic of her. She was just on Katie Couric show this week and she STILL had that baby weight on her, matter of fact they just aired her weight watchers commercial and she said she just started. Media hype I tell you to the truth.

  3. I don’t believe she gained “over 200lbs” perhaps she weighted more than 200lbs?

  4. Jessica is on a normal track for post baby weight loss. She is still dealing with baby weight and it was visible during her appearance on the Katie Couric show. She’s a weight loss spokesperson & Weight Watchers wouldn’t show anything but her face in her first commercial. Nothing to see here. As much as she admitted to eating while pregnant I don’t really believe the diet she gave either.

    • Becuase it’s a lie chile. If I used a surrogate or if I had a tummy tuck immediately after giving birth. I wouldn’t lie about it .These celebs and even psuedo celebs(rea;lity folks) lie so much about their true method of weight loss honey I just tune them out, and really don’t see how the general public is fooled by them either.

I do like the peplum black suit, so chic so clean elegant simple and modern.

    • @Tina: Her diet consists of 1200 calories. What’s so unbelievable? She is not starving. she looks great and should be a model for responsible weight loss postpartum.

  5. A million dollars ANY FUCKING BODY to lose weight. For her to gain that type of weight during her pregnancy shows how much she likes to overeat and eat b.s.

  6. I think the article meant to say she weighed over 200lbs during her pregnancy and not gained 200lbs. If she only lost 40 that would defo not be her in that second photo. lol.

  7. Well, Black IS slimming. I am curious, though, with all this commitment to weight loss, when is she taking care of her baby?

  8. The artticle said” She balloned to over 200 pounds”. This does not mean that she gained 200 pounds but rather she weighed more than 200 pounds. Weight is a constant struggle to those not born with “good” genes or constantly watch what they eat. The fact that she joined Weight Watchers shows that she knows that she needs help to lose weight. So what if she had a tummy tuck? That’s her peroggative! She has to be in the spotlight constantly so she wants to look her best! I wish I had the money to do a tummy tuck! Hello!

  9. Her weight gain was normal. But if she is breastfeeding then she must be starving on this diet!
Eating regular meals and snacks with weekly excersize will keep her healthy and return to an appropriate size with time. There is no need to have egg whites only when your body needs the protein. Eat sensibly, don’t starve yourself!
