5. Give some love to your feet.

It goes without saying, but like I mentioned last week, get some good shoes. Shoes that don’t have enough cushion aren’t going to cut it. It’s easy to strain your arches and toes, not to mention that your ankles are getting the full impact of bad alignment and pressure. Get proper shoes, and treat yourself to a good foot massage (courtesy of your spouse or significant other, of course). You can also make your own homemade foot-soak bath with some warm water and a few essentials oils of your choice.

Listen to your body. It’s an annoying cliché, but it’s true. If you’re mid-run and feeling like you’re going to die, it’s time to give it a rest, go home and make yourself a cocktail. The trail will be there tomorrow.
