Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re quite familiar with the Chad Johnson/Evelyn Lozada debacle for some time now. After an embarrassing 32 days of marriage, the former New England Patriot and his wife are now officially divorced, sure to go down in celebrity history as one of the quickest marriages of all time.

The divorce follows a bitter domestic violence spat where Johnson was accused of head-butting Evelyn in a heated dispute over a receipt for condoms. Following the onslaught of media, he was then unceremoniously dropped from the Miami Dolphins, a team he was vying to play for spot in, and was said to be debt ridden over a property lien on his house. The couple’s TV show, Ev and Ocho, that was set to air this month, was also dropped from Vh1.

Over the course of the past few weeks, we’ve seen a couple things.

In an effort to repair her image, Lozada has appeared on a two part episode of Iyanla Vanzant’s “Fix My Life,” detailing what happened the night of the incident. She also admits to knowing what most of the world already suspected, that Johnson was in fact cheating on her through much of their relationship.

Meanwhile Johnson has expressed his regret in different ways. The most bold statement being a new tattoo plastered on his leg of Evelyn’s face (creepy,much?), and his desire to be a better person in an interview with Showtime’s “Inside the NFL,” set to air next Wednesday.

”Being married, being a husband, being a lover, was an honor,” he says. “And I lost that. And you know that saying, `You never know what you have until it’s gone.’ And now I finally know what they mean. I lost two of the things that really meant the most to me. That someone completed my world completed me, period. But I just hadn’t made that transition to where I needed to be the best man that I could, or best husband that I could. I didn’t make it all the way, fully.”

He goes on to address his flaws.

”Chad has to work on Chad. Chad has to go deep down inside and figure out where he went wrong. At what point did you lose focus on what’s most important? Like especially the game of football. At some point I had drifted off track away from that and being one of the best at what I do.”
