Take your workouts to the streets
Why spend money on pricey and often un-used gym memberships when the world is your fitness oyster? Hit the pavement with a running club or find a boot camp in your local park. You’ll avoid the creepy levels of bacteria found in typical gyms and get a daily dose of fresh air while you’re at it.
If you’re also looking to get your entire family in on the action, Dr. John Mayor, author of the book Family Fit: Find Your Balance, recommends jumping rope, walking, rollerblading, playing Frisbee and playing tag games. “These family activities are by nature done outside of gyms because young family members are so often excluded from gyms,” says Mayor. Not only will moving your fitness activities outdoors help you to break a sweat but also create some family bonding time.
