One thing many newbie vegans forget to take into account is that their new plant based lifestyle will require them to eat larger quantities of food. If you’re constantly feeling hungry on your new vegan diet it’s because the caloric density of the food you’re eating is lower.

For example, of course if you go from eating meat and potatoes every day to just eating potatoes your body isn’t going to feel the same amount of fullness. You have to eat more food anytime you’re taking out, or removing foods from your diet. Trust us, this is the one time it’s okay to pile food on your plate.

  1. I prefer to have fruits in the morning and denser foods in the evening. This allows fruits to be digested completely before ingesting foods that slow the digestive process, i.e., fats and starches as well as high protein foods.

This plan has helped many of my patients who are interested in losing weight accomplish their goal. When you get used to eating this way it is easier to meatless for an entire day. This will bring you closer to transitioning eating vegan without quitting meat cold turkey. It also is a good way to make a healthy compromise if you are not willing to go all the way to a vegan life style.
