We all have issues with sugar. Our bodies are predisposed to abuse this substance that is essential to our body’s homeostasis. Hopefully, most nutritionists will tell you that you need to get most of your sugar from non-GMO fruits and whole grains, but as with any good advice, it can go inside one ear and out the other, especially if you live in America, the home of Coca-Cola, Mars, and Con-Agra.

Sugar is widely refined nowadays, and most of it is inserted into processed foods, cunningly disguised with names like high-fructose corn syrup, agave, crystalline fructose, fruit juice concentrate, just to identify a few.

Now all of these sugar derivatives can wreak havoc on your body, but nowhere does sugar addiction rear its ugly head than on your teeth. If you’re not receiving the right amount of vitamins (Calcium, Vitamin K2, D, and A), working together, you’ll see your tooth enamel deteriorate faster than Mitt Romney changes his mind. Together, these nutrients work synergistically to decay-proof your mouth — and their combined effects can be powerful enough to actually reverse cavities and erosion.

Dried fruit and dehydrated treats can also spell trouble for dental health, especially if they make up a large portion of your diet. Dried fruit is particularly troublesome because it gets crammed in the hard-to-reach spots between your teeth, providing a sugary feast for bacteria — and creating the perfect habitat where cavities may form. As much as possible, stick with fresh, water-rich foods, and be sure to floss after eating anything dry and sticky.

  1. Wow! No one has posted one thought about the one substance that is worse than coke, heroine or meth?????

I have a serious sweet tooth. Sometimes I’d rather be addicted to crack than sugar.

At least with crack you have to call someone and meet them at a certain time ( I guess I really don’t know thank goodness). Sugar is everywhere; at the gas station, dollar store, Nordstrom, even the gym has sugar. Get a craving go to McDonalds, Starbucks. It really sucks.

Right now I’m begging my doctor to give me the date when Belviq will be release. They are soo tight lipped it aint even funny. I bet if I played crazy they’d put me on some drugs real quick…but because I have a few lbs to drop………they actin’ brand new.

    sorry 4 the slang…but I’m very tired.

  2. by the way….thank you for posting this.
