4. Chaunte Lowe
Twenty-eight-year-old Chaunte Lowe is a wife and two-time mom. She’s also one of the best high jumpers in the country. Saturday in Eugene, Ore., Lowe cleared 6 feet 7 inches, breaking the trials record set in 1988. The feat won her fifth national outdoor title and her third trip to the Olympics. Lowe is known for her post-competition expressiveness and enthusiasm. Here’s hoping her Olympic performance yields her a few picture-worthy moments of irrepressible joy.
