Eating healthy when there are so many ooey, gooey, yummy foods out there that are bad for our health can be quite the challenge. And even though, we count carbs, drink water and add veggies, often times we are still consuming foods that can be harmful to our bodies and our diets. If you’re looking for a way to detox and clean up your act, try cutting back on these foods and take note of the difference it will make.
Drink Less Alcohol
We’ve all read the reports about how drinking a glass here and there of alcohol may have positive effects like raising “good” HDL cholesterol, “thinning the blood” (preventing clots that can cause heart attack and stroke) and possibly warding off dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, but the truth is alcohol can still have a negative effect on your body. Alcohol takes a toll on your liver, the major organ of your body devoted to “detoxing” your system and it also acts as a diuretic, making it harder to stay hydrated. If you’re out on the town and looking for an alcohol free alternative, try club soda and juice, not exactly the same, but your healthier body will thank you later.
Go Green
Swapping one of your daily cups of coffee, juice or soda for a cup of green tea instead not only detoxifies your body, but provides you with other great health benefits like boosting immunity and fighting cavities.
