Michael Vick’s Virginia home — where his family and so-called friends committed heinous, torturous animal cruelties, acts usually reserved for factory farms, in his Bad Newz Kennels’ name — was dubiously sold to an animal rights organization, Dogs Deserve Better.
According to NBC Philadelphia, the organization paid for the house with a 30 percent down payment secured through donations and a loan. An anonymous donor has agreed to make payments for the next 10 years, but Thayne said fundraising would continue.
Ultimately, the group wants to raise $3 million to fully pay for the site, install fencing, and build a facility for the dogs. The house will serve as the group’s new headquarters and Thayne said she or another staff member will live there to monitor the dogs.
Although Thayne has never met Vick, she clearly cannot stand the socially-neutered Eagles quarterback. Thayne has had no contact with Vick in regards to the property. She said she isn’t sure what she would say to him if he were to show up on her new property. She said, “I would like to see that he’s really remorseful and I personally don’t feel that I’ve seen that because actions speak louder than words.”
Fuck all the numerous spectacles that the Humane Society puts Vick through in order for him to earn money and show his remorse for his dumb actions — time in state prison doesn’t count for black men, it’s like our right of passage in eyes of most folks — Thayne wants more groveling.
Vick’s latest appeal to animal activists was through the Humane Society’s website in April. Vick posted a statement after an application was released for Android phones that featured dog fighting.
The Eagles quarterback said, “I’ve come to learn the hard way that dogfighting is a dead-end street. Now, I am on the right side of this issue, and I think it’s important to send the smart message to kids, and not glorify this form of animal cruelty, even in an Android app.”
I guess this is akin to PETA putting a bid in to turn O.J. Simpson’s Florida home intp a “Meat is Murder Museum” but whatever, I’m glad to see dogs getting a nicer, plusher prison — something like a five-star zoo.
I understand the sentiment and I get why the animal rights organization is skeptical but I don’t understand why she is can’t find the compassion for Michael Vick, a fellow being. This is why I always fall short of supporting PETA and Humane Society outright. Most of the people involved are pretentious.
This is ridiculous! It’s sad enough that a man went to prison over DOGS! But to continue this public display of disdain for him ..over….again..Dogs, is quite sad. These pet activists and especially PETA have no life! He was in jail because of “gambling”, the punishment was too harsh, the cleaning dog poop with his jersey and such..why!? This lady, “his actions haven’t shown remorse”..lady, go to hell and don’t come back! Take your dogs with you too, if you must!
