Unleashing her stamina, poise, and dancing skills into the world, Misty Copeland is the first African American Soloist at the American Ballet Theater. Discovered by her teacher in middle school, she has devoted her life to dancing, training her body to become the force that it is today.

  1. love love love Misty Copeland as a ballet dancer i always found her as an inspiration. But i just wanted to correct your article as she is not the 1st black soloist at ABT there were 2 before her Anne Sims and Nora Kimball were both soloist for ABT. i think this was in the 80’s or early 90’s (i am going off memory) regardless though she is still amazing. especially since she started what is considered late for the ballet world

  2. She looks amazing!

  3. Oh I love this video. Misty is such a lady!

  4. Great post Dreux and Frugivore!!!! Such a fitspiration. Keep them coming! 🙂

  5. Yes, I have heard of Misty before; her body SCREAMS “DISCIPLINE!” I also love the way that PRINCE has utilized her dancing ability in his tour. BTW, This site is really a great idea read about it through CLUTCH. There definitely needs to be more talk about Black woman, our diet, and what we can do to improve it! Thanks Frugivore!

  6. Beautiful and talented is such a winning combination. Athough Misty is not the first African-American soloist (2 sistas have preceded her), her accomplishments and future endeavours cannot be denied.
