Tuesday night, Baylor University’s women’s basketball team won the NCAA championship, capping off an astonishing 40-win, undefeated season.

Led by junior Brittney Griner, who scored 26 points and grabbed 13 ‘boards, the Lady Bears defeated Notre Dame in a battle of the best teams in the nation.

Although Griner has dazzled fans with her dunks, and won just about every award a player can win–AP Player of the Year, First team All-American, Big 12 Player of the Year, and the list goes on–she has vowed to return to Baylor for her senior year instead of jumping ship to the WNBA.

Despite their impressive victory, the season hasn’t been a cake-walk for the Bears. Baylor’s coach Kim Mulkey struggled with Bell’s palsy during the tournament, but Griner was happy her team could win the title for their beloved coach.

“It meant everything for us to get it for coach,” she said. “She felt like she wasn’t there for us, but we told her every second that we could hear here loud and clear, everything she was saying.”

Although Griner will probably be listed among the best players in women’s college ball, she said she’ll always remember this win.

“Looking back when we get older, I’m always going to remember this moment, always going to remember confetti falling and being here with my team,” she said.
