After many wondered aloud why superstar singer Mary J. Blige would agree to be in a Burger commercial singing about chicken wraps, she decided to explain.

According to Mary, the commercia we saw–which Burger King pulled from its YouTube channel–wasn’t what she agreed to.

“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip,” she told TMZ.

She continued: “I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”

Mary J.isn’t the only celeb Burger King has recruited to star in its commercials. Superstar footballer David Beckham and talk show host Jay Leno both appear in new ads, which the company hopes will help it revamp its image.

Burger King still plans to release the “finished” Mary J. Blige ad, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if its more in line with the original idea.

  2. I’m not disappointed if I fail to see a black women singing about chicken……and unhealthy, cloned, fast food chicken at that.
