I love equal opportunity rights for all, and I don’t mean just in the workplace. Like women, men are starting to explore the wonderful world of grooming — down there.

In a recent New York Times article, women aren’t the only ones waiting behind the curtain for a wax anymore. Just when you thought it was only women indulging (not really) in bikini waxes and Brazilians, now men are making the decision to go bare as well. Taking their full grown bushes to barely-there-baldies, all in the name of grooming.

Mike Indursky, the President of the Bliss chain of spas, offers a men’s Brazilian as the Ultimate He-Wax for $125, after realizing that waxing has indeed crossed cultural and communal lines.

“It’s the gay community, it’s the straight community, it’s very conservative guys, it’s very liberal guys,” he says. “All different age groups are coming in. It’s much, much bigger than we ever thought.”

I’ve never looked forward to my routine appointments with my aestitician. I mean how happy can anyone be when someone is standing over your sensitive spots waving hot wax around like a sword?

But it looks like men are going under the knife more frequently than before.

The NYTimes reports that men’s grooming has almost doubled in the recent years. At a discreet salon called Face to Face in the Flatiron district, men’s waxing accounts for 70 percent of the weekly business.

Surprisingly I’ve heard that many men actually enjoy getting “shaped up” down there. It gives them more of a presentation, while also making things appear, shall we say, a bit larger.

Many salons are also offering pejazzling, the male equivalent to bejazzling – where men can choose to have their penis-area decorated.

Hmm, sounds fancy (not really).

What would you think of a man who gets waxed down there? Yay or nay?

  1. Yes I need it done badly. I can’t stand the smell of funk from a man’s balls, plus most of them don’t bathe regularly so yes it is an emphatic YAY!

    • Really most men don’t bathe regularly, really? Boys or young boys perhaps but men really? Most grown men IMO are well aware of how women feel, well some women feel about hygeine so therefore they bathe/shower/groom within reason, put on the smell good .
I am not trying to be funny but if he ain’t bathing/showering then hair really ain’t the the biggest issue there.

    • @No Junk: If you know a MAN who doesn’t wash his butt regularly, you might want to go get tested. I like a man trimmed but not bald. Can’t do the bush in 2012

    • @No Junk: Actually I agree with you to a degree. Many men’s idea of hygiene I have found is not on the same level a mine. I know a number of men who do not wash their backs properly when they shower and some others who routinely have skid marks in their underwear from not wiping properly after having a bowel movement. I also find some men who do not pay as much attention to their dental hygiene as they should. I am not going to say they don’t bathe regularly, but I will definitely say many a man do not bathe properly.

  2. I like a clean shaven man from head to toe. Waxing is a bit much though

  3. After the last photo I had to pick my jaw back up and go back and see what the article was asking again…and yes, I must have shave or wax.

  4. I thought this waxing thing was something done more in the gay community. Times are a changing I guess.

  5. If he wants to do it then that is fine with me but I really don’t care either way. I don’t like when men ask me to get rid of my hair, so I’m not gonna ask him to.
