If 40 really is the new 30, Gabrielle Union is living proof. The 39-year-old, who’ll celebrate her milestone birthday in October, participated in the Evian Live Young, Skate On event in Miami Beach this weekend and her flawless look while baking in the Florida sun has us asking just one question, how can I look like that?

From her glowing skin to her beaming smile, Gabby exudes radiance, and not the kind we can just thank her parents for. Gabrielle works at maintaining her forever young look and there are three things we should take from her latest appearance to get one step closer to shining like she does.

Water Does a Body Good:

Sure milk’s great for healthy teeth and strong bones but water’s got you covered inside and out. It’s completely fitting that this event was sponsored by Evian because not only is water necessary for natural bodily functions like flushing out toxins and carrying nutrients to cells, it also promotes healthy skin, hair, and nails. Take a look at Gabrielle’s skin and tell me that girl is not getting in her recommended 8 glasses per day?

You’re Only as Old as You Feel:

So much of our overall health is mental and Gabby’s ability to put on a pair of white knee socks and scalloped red shorts and skate around Miami Beach like a teenager proves it. The better you feel about yourself, the more you take pride in your health, and vice versa. Keeping your body in great shape is a huge part of living and feeling young and what better time to start making a healthy body a priority than when you really are young? Establishing a routine of healthy eating and regular exercise in your younger years is a great way to prevent heart disease, osteoporosis, and a host of other conditions down the line. The extra perk is people will never believe you’re as old as you really are. See Gabrielle Union as Exhibit A.

Being Fit is Fun:

While Gabrielle was on the set of Bad Boys II she had a grueling schedule of 2-hour workout sessions 5-days a week to get her body action movie ready, but most days we’ll catch Gabby at the beach playing with D. Wade’s kids or doing something fun and active like she did this weekend. Exercise has almost become a bad word for some of us but it doesn’t have to be. There are lots of fun ways to stay in shape from skating around town, rock climbing, hiking, swimming, and more. Now that summer is almost here take advantage of the opportunity to soak in the sun while shaping your form.
