When it comes to health people like to talk a lot about eating healthy, but for many of us figuring out exactly what healthy foods we should be eating can pose a challenge. With so many options it can become a bit overwhelming. Frugivore wants to take some of the pressure off your next grocery shopping trip with four foods you need to add to your diet this year. Don’t say we never gave you anything!

Figs
These little babies are a dieters dream! Jam packed with fiber, eating a few figs will help keep you fuller longer, meaning you’ll eat less throughout the day. They’re great in salads for some added sweetness and easily portable in your gym bag or desk drawer for an on-the-go snack.

Popcorn
It may seem strange to add this snack to your diet, but popcorn can actually be healthy….when it’s not drowned in butter and toppings. Not only is popcorn high in fiber and low in calories, but popcorn is high in antioxidants as well, which may help in the prevention of heart disease, stroke and certain cancers.

Almond Butter
Looking for a way to switch up your PB&J routine, well almond butter is the answer. Almond butter is high in vitamin E, a must for great skin and hair and it is also full of monounsaturated fats (prevalent in tree nuts) which have been documented in several studies to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. Almonds have been found to help reduce the risk of diabetes as well as obesity.

Kale
If you’re looking for a new veggie to try, look no further than Kale. Kale is in the same family as broccoli, cabbage and Brussels sprouts and is high in vitamin K, A and C and has even been shown to help in preventing cancer. How’s that for a health kick!
