A report claims that over twenty percent of American adults now receive prescription pharmaceuticals for a myriad of symptoms, which include but are not limited to depression and anxiety.

A new study conducted by Medco Health Solutions Inc., a pharmacy benefits management company, has found that one in five adults — and one in four women — now regularly takes at least one drug for psychiatric or behavioral disorders.

The study warns that the pill popping human being will be the norm as all predictions seem to suggest that pharmaceutical drug use will increase in the coming decades.

According to Natural News, health professionals are observing drastic behavioral changes in people since 2001, creating a demand for prescription drugs to help “balance” American’s personalities.

The majority of adults taking behavioral drugs are still women aged 45 years or older, but many men are now taking them as well — and based on current trends, such drug use in general is expected to continue to increase.

It seems to medical practitioners that many of the drugs that Americans commonly attribute to hyperactive, ADHD children, like Ritalin, Dexedrine, and Adderall, are now finding their ways into the medicine cabinets of adult males, who are now the main users of such drugs since 2001.

As you might already see during your favorite television’s commercial breaks, middle-aged women are the target marketing demographic for depression and schizophrenic drugs, but, quietly as it’s kept, men’s use of these drugs continue to skyrocket, literally ten-fold.
