Miami native and WBNA baller Sylvia Fowles let the world gaze at her long, lean body in this year’s ESPN The Magazine “Body” spread. Fowles, who is 6’6 and 200 pounds, looks like a different person, as we rarely get to see our female athletes in artful pictures that capture their full essence.

Fowles is one of the top scorers and rebounders in the WNBA, putting up career highs in both statistical categories in 2011.

Ultimate Fighting Championship superstar Jon “Bones” Jones also bared his backside for Disney, posing in a traditional leg kick stance. Jones’ meteoric rise through the UFC ranks to become the youngest champion in history is what makes the 24-year-old so appealing to sponsors and MMA fans.

Recently, Jones defended his title during UFC 135 against A-Team co-star Quentin “Rampage” Jackson, solidifying Jones as the most electric American-born star in the emerging blood sport.

Jones also has made news for calling out the beloved and most consistent UFC star Rashad Evans, claiming that Evans is ducking him. Either way, Jones will fight Lyoto Machida on December 10 at UFC 140.

Who knows if current New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes will stay in Queens for another year, but one thing is for certain, Reyes will be a highly sought-after free-agent talent during this year’s Major League Baseball offseason.

The Dominican born star made news when he sat out of the remainder of an otherwise meaningless regular season game after laying down a successful bunt in order to preserve a batting title.

Even though that move was looked at a selfish, Reyes knows how important a batting title is to his resume in a free agent year, especially considering the small earning window afforded to professional athletes.

Blake Griffin is everywhere! The Los Angeles Clippers forward graces the covers of many magazines, but according to USA Today, Griffin never felt this uncomfortable. True to form though, Griffin found himself adjusting to the bright cameras:

But then after a while I didn’t really care. They were bringing the robe over after every take and after a while, I was like, ‘Whatever, it’s OK.’ I guess I’m more comfortable now with less clothes,” he said, smiling

Griffin, who is the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, can’t wait until the current NBA lockout is lifted — but that’s unfortunately becoming more complicated by the day. If the player’s union and owners don’t come to a mutual understanding in regards to a basic framework for a deal by Monday, more than likely the first two months of the 2011-2012 season will be lost.

Frugivore’s favorite picture is of Olympic track and field gold medalist Natasha Hastings. The former South Carolina Gamecock specializes in the 4×400 meters, acquiring multiple medals in the event.
