Even though Ecstasy is an illicit, schedule-1 narcotic, scientists, after staying up long nights, are in a state of euphoria because they feel, with the proper dosage, rolling Ecstasy can possibly treat cancer.

After working together with Australian researchers, scientists from the University of Birmingham, England, wrote in the journal, Investigational New Drugs, modified forms of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), street name Ecstasy, may have enormous potential in the treatment ofmyeloma, lymphoma and leukemia,.

The modified drug is 100 times more powerful as a cancer-busting compound than Ecstasy, which is already known to be effective against over half of white blood cell cancers. The researchers believe they may eventually be able to create drugs to treat human patients.

According to Medical News Today, Scientists at the University of Birmingham had already discovered six years ago that over half of all white blood cancer cells responded to psychotropic drugs – the drugs suppressed their growth. Included in their laboratory experiments were weight-loss pills, antidepressants (including Prozac) and Ecstasy.

Professor John Gordon is lead author of this report and wants the public to feel the sense of hope that he and his team have from this discovery, but he is adamant that further research will be needed before they’re certain about the proper dose of Ecstasy to treat cancer effectively:

“While we would not wish to give people false hope, the results of this research hold the potential for improvement in treatments in years to come.”

This story seems to bring back memories of when scientists first discovered that marijuana helped AIDS and cancer patients regain their appetites and mitigate their suffering after therapy. Marijuana somehow is a schedule-1 narcotic, yet the scientific community is almost in unison about the benefits of consuming marijuana for medical reasons.

Can you imagine medical Ecstasy clinic though — a huge warehouse, rave style, with techno music and glow sticks, equipped with rub-proof furniture and gallons of water and orange juice. Seriously, this is a great discovery, and hopefully cancer patients will benefit from this treatment.

So medical hemp is sold in tents, coloured psychodelical, if you need to sit you get a bean bag. For the munchies you get chocolat bars, chips and indian music is played for the flair? Not to forget hot chai to wash the chocolat down…

As far as I can tell, medical hemp is sold just like other medication…I bet with ecstasy it would be no different.
