The Food Safety Modernization Act is expected to be brought up in the Senate before Congress adjourns for the year. The bill would grant the Food and Drug Administration additional regulatory power, upsetting opponents of the bill who are concerned about the effects new regulations would have on small farmers.

The bill stalled in the Senate before the recent midterm elections, and Senators are reluctant to pick the measure back up. Why?

As usual, the Congress is so obsessed with partisan bickering that they miss the point of what needs to happen to the system as whole: a complete overhaul!

  1. Food safety is paramount to health policy which is essential to the maintenance of any lifestyle mainstream or vegan. Money always seems to muddle the picture for the Congress and it, although important, should not be the central focus. People should be.
